Datar: The lockdown was not till 20th september. This was a plan to make sure somehow NLS is frustrated from it and I'll make good this submission.

Justice Bhushan: They have stated in rejoinder that WB university's VC conveyed that there is a lockdown in West Bengal.
Datar: Yes, I was a part of the society and if there is frustration of tenets for any reason, i do have the right.
Justice Shah: Did you inform them about this unilateral decision?
Datar: Number of times. I told them that we have a trimester system.
Datar: Executive Council has power to Act. Does not require approval of academic council.

Datar: National law schools got together, from 2007 we conducted the CLAT. CLAT 2018 came under a clout and thats how a society was formed. However, no mandate by the SC on this.
Datar: NLSIU has autonomy over admission process.
The proposal of academic council put this forth - Academic Council proposes and Executive Council approves.
"Action is to be taken as per the Academic Council since 1987"
Datar: EC responsible for making regulations. With regard to conduct of examination, all the provisions will apply to UG & PG courses (under the NLSI Act)
Datar now says that Academic council will be responsible for the maintenance of standard of education in the University.
Justice Bhushan: These are all consequent actions. The CLAT has to be held.
Datar: I am only saying I have nothing to do with it.
