SG continues, “Any state puts in a request for any number of trains, they are being provided by the govt within 24 hours.”

Bench, “We will ask all states to submit their demands to the railways.”

Bench tells SG that according to the chart submitted, Maharashtra has only asked for one train

SG, “Yes. We have already run 802 trains from Maha.”

Bench, “Should we take that to mean that no other person will be going to Maharashtra?”

SG, “That’s what the Maha Govt. told us”.

Now, SG says that they have on record a chart which shows How many workers yet to be shifted and how many trains are required for the said purpose. He informs the Bench that only State Governments can provide this info and they have prepared a chart on the same.

SG, “Max trains went to UP or Bihar. We are in touch with the State Governments. Letter has been sent to chief secretaries asking how many workers still had to be shifted and how many trains were required for that.”

Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta informs the Bench that they have filed their affidavit yesterday.

“We have also answered the query that you incorporated in the last Order.”


SG states that in accordance with guidelines, Indian Railways operated 4228 trains till 3rd June.

SG is now taking the Bench through statistical data - positive stats for number of trains that have operated and number of migrants who have been transported.
