SG Mehta: There will be atleast one woman officer who will report back to you. I'm requesting this should be moved out of the state of Manipur
CJI DY Chandrachud: Suppose there are 1000 such cases- then is the CBI in position to conduct investigation in all these incidents? Because they're all connected.
CJI DY Chandrachud: But we want to know how many zero FIRs, what was the action taken, are there any 156 proceedings, to what extent has been legal aid provided? The other thing- is this the only standalone incident of violence on women? Or how many such FIRs are there?
CJI: Out of these, how many were recorded as zero FIRs?
SG: don't have instructions but whenever the police gets information, and territorial jurisdiction is not clarified, it is registered at zero FIRs.
CJI DY Chandrachud: Right.
CJI DY Chandrachud: You say there are 6000 FIRs- How many of them involve crime against women? How many involve offences like murder, arson etc? What is the bifurcation between these 6000 FIRs?
CJI DY Chandrachud: Why was it given to magistrate after 1 month and 3 days. There were 20 such FIRs, what did the police do?
SG Mehta: My instructions are subject to the verification.
CJI DY Chandrachud: Who was named in the FIR? Nobody was named. In which case what was the police doing for 14 days?
CJI DY Chandrachud: But Mr SG, 14 days the police took to register the zero FIR.
SG Mehta: We have nothing to hide. We're saying that your lordships can monitor the situation. Something coming from here or there will be hazardous.
CJI: What was the police doing from 4th to 18th? An incident came to light that women are being paraded naked- atleast 2 were raped. What was the police doing?
