Nine new judges took oath as additional judges in the Bombay High Court today. The strength of the court has increased to 62 judges as against its sanctioned 94 judges.

Last week, the central government had notified their appointment to the court after the Supreme Court had given its recommendation to elevate ten lawyers to the bench on 16th February, 2022.

The lawyers who have been elevated to the High Court are –

  1. Arif Saleh Doctor
  2. Arun Ramnath Pednekar
  3. Gauri Vinod Godse
  4. Kamal Rashmi Khata
  5. Kishore Chandrakant Sant
  6. Rajesh Shantaram Patil
  7. Sandeep Vishnupant Marne
  8. Sharmila Uttamrao Deshmukh
  9. Valmiki Menezes SA

Earlier, the Bombay High Court had 44 permanent judges and 9 additional judges, thus operating on a strength of 53.
