The Delhi High Court has directed all the Jail Superintendents in the city to take proper care to ensure that legible scanned copies of the petitions or documents are forwarded to the Court.
Noting that there is an issue of non-availability of good scanners, Justice Talwant Singh also asked the Director General of Tihar Prisons to take a call on the same.
"A copy of this order be sent to the D.G. Tihar Prisons with request to circulate it to all Jail Superintendents for information and compliance not only in this matter but in all those matters where petitions are scanned and sent to the High Court," the Court ordered.
The Court was dealing with a plea seeking directions to release the petitioner on first spell of furlough for a period of 3 weeks.
While the Court issued notice to the State, it observed that the scanned copy of the plea was dim.
At the outset, the Court was informed by counsel that the petitions were scanned from jail and then they were forwarded to the High Court.
"Let all the Jail Superintendents take proper care to ensure that the scanned copies of the petitions/documents are legible and thereafter forward the same to High Court," the Court ordered.
The matter will now be heard on June 1.
