The 24*7 ON (Open and Networked) Court in Kollam is an initiative for lawyers to access digital services like file applications, seek adjournments, monitor cases, and track summons round the clock for speedy dispensation of justice.
ON Courts will make things easier and more efficient for advocates and everyone involved in the legal fraternity. It will initially be launched to deal with cheque dishonour cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
This initiative is part of the broader movement to digitize and modernize the judicial system in India, making it more accessible, efficient, and transparent for the litigants and lawyers.
Some key aspects of ON Courts include:
- Work From Anywhere- lawyers can access their documents and file their responses from anywhere, attend hearings online through virtual mode, track the status of summons online
- No Duplication Of Files- online filing is made easier by enabling lawyers to correct their mistakes, instead of resubmitting the whole file again.
- Easily Monitor Next Steps- it will enable lawyers to track the case and the next steps to be followed in each case
- Assisted Filing- this will enable lawyers to seek guidance and support to file without errors. It will provide detailed guidelines and templates to be followed while filing any applications to reduce errors.
- Time Management- it provides a smart calendar enabling lawyers to track their schedule and plan their work efficiently
In August 2024, various digital initiatives were launched in the Kerala High Court like the Country's first exclusive Digital Court for Negotiable Instruments Act Cases in Kollam, Online Dispute Resolution System, Model Digital Court Room concept, Learning Management System of the Judicial Academy, Digital Library and Research Centre, announcement of District Digital Courts and so on.
