Call For Papers: Vol. II Of The GNLU Law & Society Review

The GNLU Law and Society Review (GLSR) is hereby calling for papers for its second volume. GLSR is the official publication of the Centre for Law and Society, at Gujarat National Law University, India. The Review employs and encourages an interdisciplinary approach to research in law and focuses on issues of socio-legal significance.

Theme: Algorithms, Law & Democracy

Sub-Themes:

  • In the wake of a Big Brother State: Surveillance and Privacy vis-a-vis S. 69 of the Information Technology Act.
  • Algorithmic Bias and the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Rights: Challenges New Technology poses to the existing Legal Framework.
  • The Emergence of Big Data and Surveillance: How has Data-Driven Policing changed Law Enforcement?
  • The Internet of Things: How should the Law keep pace?
  • Issues of Responsibility and Liability in Artificial Intelligence & Algorithmic Platforms.
  • The Changing Contours of Citizenship through Artificial Intelligence.
  • The Politics and Power in Algorithmic Infrastructures.

Please note that the sub-themes are merely indicative, any other submissions within the broader ambit of the main theme can be made.

Who can apply?

  • The GNLU Law and Society Review is open for academicians, doctoral students, and research scholars

Submission Categories:

  • Articles (6000 words or above, excluding footnotes);
  • Essays (3500-6000 words excluding footnotes);
  • Book Reviews/Case Commentary/Short Notes (1500-3500 words excluding footnotes)

Submissions

  • All submissions will have to be accompanied by an Abstract, explaining the aims and objectives of the paper.
  • The word limit for the Abstract is 500 words.
  • All submissions must be unique and genuine and not plagiarised from any sources. Plagiarism of any sort will result in immediate disqualification.
  • The title of the Paper must be appropriate. The cover page of the paper must contain the title and the details of the authors.
  • The name of the author should be followed by footnote mark (*) for the first author and (**) for the second author.
  • The footnotes should give educational qualifications and the institutional details of the contributor/s.
  • The paper should be free from all grammatical and spelling errors. Co-authorship can a maximum of 2 authors.
  • All submissions made, must not have been previously published elsewhere.
  • Abstract and full paper submissions must be made in Microsoft Office (doc. /docx.) formats only.
  • All the submissions must be made to glsr@gnlu.ac.in with the subject, "Submission – Volume II" on or before August 4, 2019.
  • Authors can expect to receive decisions on their submissions within two months of their submissions.
  • Please note that the procedures for reviewing manuscripts are based on the anonymity of the author and the confidentiality of the editors' and reviewers' reports; author anonymity is preserved, as well, during the editorial decision-making process.
