Sibal: So they say minutes of the meeting are there. No place, time, summons- nothing.
Sibal: What they do is send translation of minutes of meeting and resolutions passed. Minutes, as we know, are after the meeting.
Sibal: There is no summons for any meeting, no venue, no time, nothing for the meeting. This is the meeting of Pratinidhi Sabha of the Shivsena? So it must be known to everyone - summons must be sent like we sent to them?
Sibal: The split has to take place within the party. Petition was filed on 19th July.
Sibal: There is not a whisper of any rival groups. It's only these 39.
CJI DY Chandrachud: So you're saying that the ECI did not have any information about rival groups.
Sibal: So the jurisdiction of the commission starts when there are claims of rival groups within a political party.
Sibal: See the injustice caused to us.
Sibal: The commission cannot disregard basic principles- that you're giving symbol to those 39 whose disqualifications are pending and that issue is pending before this court.
Sibal: The result was that they said that 39 were majority so they get symbol. They misused the order of this court.
Sibal: So we asked the commission to stay its hand and let SC decide.
