The Collegium of the Supreme Court has recommended to transfer the Acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Justice Arindam Sinha as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court. He has been at the helm of Odisha Judiciary since the superannuation of the former Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on January 19, 2025.
Justice Sinha originally belongs to the Calcutta High Court, where he was appointed as an Additional Judge on October 30, 2013 and as a permanent Judge on March 14, 2016. He was later on transferred to Orissa High Court and took oath on October 08, 2021.
He presently stands at serial no. 40 of the All-India High Court Judges seniority list (including Chief Justices). If his transfer is cleared by the Centre, he shall be the 4th senior-most Judge (excluding the Chief Justice) at the Allahabad High Court. He is currently the 6th senior-most High Court Judge having Calcutta High Court as parent High Court.
Notable to mention that on March 06, 2025, the Collegium had proposed the name of Justice Harish Tandon, the senior-most Judge of Calcutta High Court as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. His name is yet to be cleared by the centre.
