Sankaranayanan: I don't think Mr. Kumar was right. This is not based on racial or tribal basis but on basis of backward basis.
Sankaranayanan: The argument that EWS is for forward classes is misplaced.

Sankaranayanan: yes but the conditions of general muslim category are lower than the Hindu OBCs.

Sankaranayanan: Both the two commissions which are mentioned earlier, I've put the terms of Sachar committee and Ranganath Mishra committee. There is a summary. These reports haven't been formally accepted by govt.
Kumar: For the first time, this court is taking a case which affects 100% population.

Kumar: All the welfare measures that are in operation, large number of them- education, higher education, skill development - in not a single scheme the ST/SC are excluded.
J Bhat: In fact they're given special scholarships.
CJI: Wherever there is EWS they are included.
Kumar: As on 31.03.2018, 2530 castes are found in the list of OBCs. Of them 775 are newly added subsequent of Indra Sawhney.
Kumar: One of the arguments was that muslims will get benefits. I've given the list of all Muslim communities that are included in backward classes. And the Christians that are included are also mentioned. I've also given tabular chart of no. of classes added to the list of SEBCs
Kumar: Pramati cannot be relied upon as an authority to say EWS is right.
