The Executive Committee of Supreme Court Bar Association  passed a resolution on Tuesday condemning the attack on the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University which took place on Sunday.

The Resolution goes on to further condemn the violence perpetuated by anti-social elements and the inaction of the police to keep a check on the same. It also emphasises and calls upon authorities to ensure that Rule of Law prevails.

"The Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association today resolved to strongly condemn the violence against JNU students by anti-social elements. It further resolved to condemn the inaction on the part of Delhi Police, and called upon the authorities to act and ensure that the Rule of Law prevailed."

On Sunday, a peaceful protest held by students of JNU against the fee hike was disrupted by masked goons who entered the university, armed with rods, sticks and hammers, and proceeded to beat up the students as well as destroy property. It has been alleged that Delhi Police failed to put an end to the attack and thereby aided in it with their inaction.

In other news, a group of lawyers gathered at the Supreme Court lawns yesterday afternoon to read out the Preamble to the Constitution of India.
