The state government has notified the West Bengal Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023.

A measure to increase the GST from the current 18% to 28% on internet gaming, horse racing, and casinos was approved by the Bengal legislature on Thursday. As of October 1, 2023, numerous states have already implemented higher tariffs for these activities.

After the proposal was approved by the council, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared that online gambling, horse racing, and casinos will henceforth be subject to a 28% face value tax under the amended GST law.
