NIRF Law College Rankings, 2018: NLSIU, Bangalore No.1, Followed By NLU-D And NALSAR
The 2018 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) places National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore at the top of the list, followed by National Law University, Delhi and National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad.
A total of 71 law schools had applied for the ranking, while NLIU, Bhopal and GNLU did not participate. However, according to an NDTV report, it will be mandatory for public universities to take part in the exercise from next year.
Here is the complete list of the top 10 law colleges, along with the respective scores (out of a total score of 100):
- NLSIU, Bangalore: 75.79
- NLU, Delhi: 74.58
- NALSAR, Hyderabad: 70.95
- IIT Kharagpur: 67.07
- NLU, Jodhpur: 63.50
- Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi: 59.91
- NUJS, Kolkata: 59.17
- RMLNLU, Lucknow: 54.82
- Symbiosis Law School, Pune: 54.25
- DR. BR Ambedkar College of Law, Vishakhapatnam: 50.93
The participating colleges were ranked on the basis of the following five parameters:
Teaching Learning and Resources (TLR): This parameter measures the numbers and quality of faculty, library and lab resources and general facilities (Rank Weightage – 0.30)
Research and Professional Practice (RPC): This one measures the quantity and quality of research output as seen through international databases, IPR generation and interface with industry and fellow professionals. (Ranking Weightage – 0.20)
Graduation Outcome (GO): This measures the student graduation rate and success in finding appropriate placements or in taking up higher studies. (Rank Weightage – 0.25)
Outreach and Inclusivity (IO): This one measures the representation of women and socially challenged persons in student and/or faculty populations, as well as outreach activities (Rank Weightage – 0.15)
Perception: This measures the perception of the institution by its stakeholders through surveys (Rank Weightage – 0.10)
