A Kerala-based lawyer, Advocate P. Balasubramanian Menon, has secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest serving lawyer, at the age of 97.
A native of Palakkad district in Kerala, Advocate Menon has had an illustrious career spanning 73 years and 60 days, upon graduating from Madras Law College.
He started his litigation career in the early 1950s, and continues to practice on the civil side in his hometown.
Advocate Menon has surpassed the record set by Gibraltar government lawyer Louis Triay. Triay passed away in February this year at the age of 94, after setting a record of 70 years and 311 days.
Advocate Menon hopes to continue his practice until such time as his health permits, and thereby serve as an inspiration for several others.
