BJP leader Kapil Mishra has tendered an unconditional apology to Aam Aadmi Party's MLA Satyendar Jain in a defamation case.

Mishra has apologised for accusing Jain of offering a bribe to Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

After recording the unconditional apology, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vishal Pahuja allowed Satyender Jain to withdraw his complaint.

The present complaint pertains to the allegations levelled by Mishra against Jain when he left the AAP in 2017. Mishra had made the following statement in the public domain:

'I saw Satender Jain give Kejriwal Rs.2 crores in cash, said Mishra. Jain is Health and PWD minister in the Kejriwal government. I asked him 'What is this?' He (Kejriwal) refused to answer. And then he said 'In politics things like this happen that can only be talked about later.'

Jain had challenged the veracity of these statements by moving a complaint for criminal defamation under section 499 of the Indian Penal Code.

Advocate Gautam Dhamija and Adv. Vaibhav Yadav has represented Mr. Satyendar Jain
