Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today appointed Mr Abdul Rashid Malik, Ex-District and Sessions Judge as Senior Additional Advocate General in the Srinagar wing of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

A notification to the effect was today issued by Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs (Judicial Administration Section) Civil Secretariat in terms if which the engagement will remain operative for a period of one year, which shall be extended subject to satisfactory performance of the Advocate and shall also be subject to orders passed in WP(C) PIL No 6 of 2021, titled Sushil Chandel Vs Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and others.

Pertinent to mention that Mr Abdul Rashid Malik topped the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Examination in the year 1997 and joined as Munsiff. Subsequently he entered the Judicial service in the year 1999 and held important positions in the Jammu & Kashmir Judiciary including Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora (2008), Registrar High Court of Jammu & Kashmir, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice (2012), and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar.
