[Live Updates] : 5th NLIU Justice R. K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot Court Competition

Hon'ble J. (Mrs.) Gyan Sudha Mishra while addressing the audience during Valedictory ceremony congratulated the moot court association, NLIU Bhopal and all the participants. She appraised the audience of the fact that how arbitration has emerged as an alternate form of dispute resolution and how it has helped to deliver speedy justice in commercial matters. She shared her experience of delivering social and commercial justice to the ardent listeners. She advised the participants about how can they improve their mooting skills and achieve greater heights in the near future.

Mr. Saurabh Suman Sinha is a distinguished alumnus of NLIU batch of 2005. He is one of the leading Under 40 Lawyers in India and practices in the Supreme Court and various High Courts across the country.

He began his speech by expressing his delight at being back and his appreciation at the brilliant quality of mooting and organization witnessed in the 5th NLIU Tankha international Arbitration Moot Court Competition. He then moved on to emphasise the importance of litigation in the college law programs as litigation is not just rewarding financially, but also intellectually. He comments on how it follows a very different course of professional life and holds tremendous capacity for success in every sense of the term. He concluded by commending the participants on their clarity of concepts, articulation of views and expression of opinions in the competition today.

DGP Maithili Sharan Gupta gave a brilliant speech. He educated the law students as to their final purpose, which would help them become proud citizens of the country. He emphasized on the need of an efficient justice delivery system. He motivated the students to come up with an affordable and cost effective model of justice delivery.

His speech worked as an eye opener for the gathering. He unveiled his five fold strategy to create a crime free India and invited the students to be a part of this vision. Finally he revealed his goal of digitizing the FIR mechanism.

Prof (Dr.)S Surya Prakash, the Vice Chancellor of DSNLU, an individual with more than 25 year of teaching experience, greeted the gathering. He is a former professor of NLIU, who felt at home judging the finals of the competition. He appreciated the teams and gave them the two golden rules of mooting: one is their presentation skills and the second one being interpretation.

Ms. Shwetha Bidhuri, the head of SIAC, expressed how delightful it was for her to judge the Final rounds. She also encouraged the teams saying that both teams were equally good. She then praised the college's tremendous efforts in making this moot a successful one. Expressing how enthralling an experience it was for her to be in collaboration with the Institution, she thanked the audience and wished them luck.

The former Advocate General of Indian Army, Major General Nilendra Kumar is also a member of the Indian Council of Arbitration and the Supreme Court Bar Council. He is renowned for the concrete steps taken by him for the dissemination of armed forces.

He commenced his speech today by thanking everybody for the privilege and honor to witness the high standard of participants. He then spoke of how for India to emerge ahead in the comity of nations, the principle of rule of law and foundation of democracy form a must and in developing the same, legal institutions like NLIU play a pivotal role. He says that it is competitions like today’s that give the students an opportunity to sharpen legal skills and to see the actual application of laws taught in the classroom. He expressed his admiration at the convincing tactful answers delivered by the participants which reflected their hard work, keen interest and capabilities. He concluded by wishing the mooters good luck for any future opportunities that they may partake in.

The ceremony begins with Dr. Rajeev Khare's speech. While talking about the event, he talked about the importance of mooting in law school and how it helps a student sharpen their skills.
