O.P Jindal Global University on the fourth convocation ceremony announced that the University will host the Times Higher Education (THE) BRICS and Emerging Economies Global Academic Summit from December 1-3, 2015.
University Chancellor Naveen Jindal announced that, “Times Higher Education has selected the International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building (IIHED) of O.P. Jindal Global University as its partner in hosting this year’s Times Higher Education BRICS and Emerging Economies Global Academic Summit during 1-3 December 2015.”
Time Higher Education is United Kingdom’s weekly magazine based in London, in the field of education that specifically reports on news and issues related to higher education.
At the convocation, Supreme Court judge Justice JastiChelameswar said that, “Human society lives amidst conflicts, turmoil and destabilisation of system through unlawful activities.” He further added that,“law is imperative for its survival. Mere money making is not the only purpose of education. Human nature does not restrict to any code of conduct. Hence, the study of law becomes essential for honourable and peaceful society.”
KailashSatyarthi, Nobel Peace Prize winner and child rights activist focused on the need to safeguard child rights and underlined the need for prioritisation of children in public policies and laws.
He said while addressing that, “We must protect the dreams of millions of children. There is no bigger travesty than denying the dreams of our children. As young adults you must all demand that children be prioritized in our policies and enforcement of laws. An adult-centric development focuses only on the present, while child-centric development is aimed at the future”.
