Justices Nani Tagia and Gunnu Anupama Chakravarthy were sworn in as judges of the Patna High Court in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The oath of office was administered to both judges by Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar.

The swearing-in event was attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, Chief Justice K Vinod Chandran, and assembly Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary.

Justice Nani Tagia  was transferred to the Patna High Court from the Gauhati High Court, where he had previously practiced as a senior advocate before his elevation to the bench in 2020.

Justice Gunnu Anupama Chakravarthy was also transferred to the Patna High Court, hailing from the Telangana High Court.

Justice Chakravarthy embarked on her legal career in 1994 at the Andhra Pradesh High Court but transitioned to the judicial services later in her career. She served as the Registrar General at the Telangana High Court before her elevation and swearing-in as a Judge of the High Court for the State of Telangana on March 24, 2022.

With these new appointments, the total number of judges in the Patna High Court has reached 34, although the sanctioned strength allows for 53 judges.
