In an unusual development, a man from Mysore attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat using a razor blade inside court hall number 1 of the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday afternoon, presided over by Chief Justice N V Anjaria.

The man who entered the Courtroom brandishing the razor blade was taken by the police immediately to Bowring Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

The incident took place around 1:20 pm on Wednesday. Chief Justice Anjaria raised concerns about the security lapse on the High Court premises and asked the Registrar General to take further steps and how a person could bring a sharp object inside.

Justice Dr H B Prabhakar Sastry who was to retire today and was part of the bench said, “How come our security allowed him in with a razor? That has to be seized under a panchnama."

The court also remarked that officers of the High Court must not receive any document without the court's order.
