First edition of GD Goenka University Moot Court Competition scheduled to be held from 11-13, March 2016
With an objective to raise the standards of Clinical Legal Education in India, the GD Goenka University, School of Law, announces first edition of GDGU Moot Court Competition scheduled to be held from 11-13, March 2016.
The first edition of this Moot Court Competition deals with the international Environmental Law regime. The moot problem focuses on the critical and obvious, yet neglected, concern relating to water management disputes in the international scenario. The glaringness of the situation is further enhanced by the challenges it poses to environmental protection. The moot problem shall allow the participants to analyze the weak policy structures governing the domestic implementation of international concerns, in matters of water management. It further seeks to provide a gateway to reflect on solutions for similar disputes globally.
All teams are to submit four copies of each memorial and counter memorial in paper (hard copy) to the organisers before the deadline specified by the organising committee in its invitation letter. As a general rule this will be one week prior to the start of the Moot Court competition.
Scanned copy of complete Registration Form along with the demand draft should be e- mailed to mootcourt@gdgoenka.ac.in, by Thursday, 19 November, 2015, (23:59 hours). Hard copy of the same should be sent by 30th November, 2015.
Criteria for assessment:
The assessment of the teams during the Moot Court competition shall be out of a maximum of 100 marks, set out as follows:
- Written Memorials (30 Marks)
- Appreciation of Fact and Law (25 Marks)
- Advocacy (Arguments, Framing of Issues, expression and articulation) (30 Marks)
- Use of Authorities and Citations (15 Marks)
- General Impression and Court Manner (10 Marks)
Cash Prize:
- Winning Team : Rs. 1,00,000
- Runner up Team : Rs. 60,000
- Best Advocate: Rs. 20,000
- Best Memorial : Rs. 20,000
