Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is organizing Building Better Courts: Launch of Website on Court Infrastructure and Panel Discussion.
Date: 3rd August
Time: 10:30 AM
Venue: Annexe, India International Centre, Annexe
Vidhi commissioned a pan-India survey (of 665 district courts) and interviewed 6650 litigants (10 per district) to understand the status of physical infrastructure of district courts in the country. The data has been analysed and the team has prepared 26 state reports, a national report - Building Better Courts: National Survey of Infrastructure of District Courts and an interactive website aggregating all the data that we have collected, which will be launched on August 3.
- Use the forum to share the collected primary qualitative data on court infrastructure with all relevant stakeholders.
- To initiate a conversation about the current conditions of district courts in the country and identifying areas requiring immediate intervention.
- To emphasise the role of court infrastructure within the mainstream discourse on judicial reforms.
- To explore short-term and long-term measures that can be taken to improve the infrastructure.
The event will be followed by a networking lunch at 2:00 PM.
