The National Company Law Tribunal Bar Association (NCLTBA) organized a felicitation program on Friday, 25.03.2022 for Justice Ashok Bhushan, Chairperson, NCLAT, and Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, President, NCLT along with others newly appointed judicial and technical members of NCLT at India International Center, New Delhi. The program was also marked by the launching of the Book "A Practical Guide to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016" written by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mishra, Member Technical, NCLAT. Senior Advocate UK Choudhary, President, NCLTBA said that theprogram was due in November, 2021 but was not happening due to Covid-19 Pandemic and finally saw the light of day as the pandemic is receding. He further congratulated all the newly appointed members of the NCLT.
Speaking at the occasion, Justice Ashok Bhushan recollected his journey of twenty-two years as an Advocate and said that it always feels great to be amongst the members of the bar and exchanges ideas with them. Justice Bhushan further emphasized the fact that today the NCLAT and NCLT has assumed great significance as these tribunals have a direct bearing on the growing economy of the country.
Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar who was appointed as the President of NCLT on 01.11.2022 started his address by referring to the principles of Japanese practice IKIGAI and stated that earlier the practice area of corporate litigation was small but today it has grown leaps and bounds after the induction of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.He further emphasized the timelines prescribed under the IBC should be strictly adhered to and thanks the members of the bar for cooperating in adhering to the timelines under IBC.
Dr. AK Mishra speaking at the launch of his book said that he had written keeping in mind the practicalities of the IBC and further thanked members of the bench and bar for kind help in completion of the book. He further informed that the book will be soon available in market and at online platforms.
The Felicitation Ceremony was attended by many senior lawyers and active members of NCLT bar association. The program was concluded by the vote of thanks given by Senior Advocate P Nagesh, Sr. Vice President, NCLTBA.
