[Live-Updates] [Hathras] SC Hearing On Pleas Seeking Court Monitored Investigation

#CJI: We are asking a question, you are talking about transfer of investigation or transfer of trial?

Jaising: Request for SIT appointed by the Court. Family has expressed that they are not satisfied with the CBI to take up the case.

SG: You must not be aware, the family is protected. Police protection is given to the family of the #hathrasvictim.

Jaising: Your lordship must protect by way of witness protection the family of the victim.

Jaising says that the SC/ST Act must be invoked and the matter must be transferred to Delhi as was done in the #Unnao case.

Jaising: Allahabad HC already seized off the matter wrt the disposal of the body of the #Hathrasvictim. I do not want to be associated with the press in any manner. FIRs also registered against protestors. 

#CJI: This is shocking and we are not denying this. We are talking about invoking our jurisdiction.

Jaising: We do not seek to interfere in the proceedings pending before the Allahabad HC.

Senior Advocate Indira Jaising: At the present moment, protection for the family of the #hathrasvictim is highly important. Fair investigation warrants protection for the family.

SG: All kinds of people, political parties giving one narrative or another. Your lordships must supervise the investigation and the purpose of it must not be lost.

SG: I appear for the State of UP. I am not opposing the petition. There are narratives and narratives in public domain. Let us not sensationalise the death of a young girl. Investigation just be fair and impartial.
