When we imagine the world of law, typically the images conjured are that of the forever debating personnel in black coats and the mountains of files gathering dust on shelves. But, certain legal practice domains, instead of the quintessential black and white portals, are nestled in chic buildings with impressive interiors. This is the world of corporate law ceaselessly grappling with questions of legality and solving disputes between the parties at the pre-court stage.
Whenever one engages in a conversation about the practice of law, names like Amarchand and Mangaldas or Khaitan and Co. invariably surface. These law firms are the trailblazers in the field of corporate law, and over the years, legal advice in corporate and financial matters have become their mainstay. As we move away from the orthodoxy of the "license raj," nuanced and intricate relations become the defining feature of our corporate economy.
