A special NDPS court on Thursday granted interim bail to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's former flatmate Siddharth Pithani to attend his marriage scheduled for June 26, 2021.

Special judge VV Vidwans granted Pithani bail for 15 days upon executing a PR Bond and cash bail in the sum of Rs. 50,000. He has been asked to surrender by July 2, 2021.

Pithani was arrested by the Narotics Control Bureau in the drugs case connected Raput's death on May 26. Over 30 others, including actor Rhea Chakraborty, face various charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the case.

In an email sent to the Bandra police last year, Pithani alleged that Rajput's relatives and a senior IPS officer were pressurising him to give a statement against Chakraborty.

Following his arrest, Pithani initially filed a regular bail application and also annexed his wedding card.

Even as the bench granted NCB time to respond, Pithani withdrew his regular bail application and sought release in an interm bail application.

The prosecution led by Special Public Prosecutor Advair Sethna opposed the application on the grounds that marriage was not an extraneous circumstance and the possibility of Pithani influencing witnesses could not be ruled out.

The judge, however, granted bail by imposing certain condition.

While on interim bail, Pithani has been asked to attend the NCB's office at Hyderbad on June 20, 22 and 28, 2021.

He has also been directed not to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses.
