A fifth petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court regarding the corruption and extortion allegations made by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against the State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

The latest PIL filed by chartered accountant - Mohan Prabhakar Bhide – through law firm MAG Legal seeks directions to constitute a committee headed by a retired Supreme Court or High Court judge on the allegations and appropriate action based on the inquiry.
The State, Chief Minister, Home Minister and Param Bir Singh are the respondents in the PIL.
The other PILs are filed by Param Bir Singh and an advocate - Ghanshyam Upadhyay. Singh's PIL will be heard by a bench led by the Chief Justice tomorrow.
Two writ petitions in the Bombay HC by an advocate and activist are also pending for similar reliefs.
On Tuesday, a division bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale pulled up an advocate for invoking the writ jurisdiction of the court for an independent probe into the former Commissioner's allegations, calling it "cheap publicity."
Bhide says he runs an educational institute and has not approached the court for "any personal gain with ulterior motives." Bhide in his petition, further states that after Param Bir's letter was reported in the print and electronic media, "all the citizens of India especially those who are residing in the State of Maharashtra on in Mumbai were echoing one common feeling that if the HM and Police personnel of the highest stature are involved in such illegal activities then, the citizens of the country are not safe."
