The Bombay High Court has summoned actor Nawazuddin Siddique and his estranged ex-wife Aaliya aka Anjana Pandey to explore the possibility of a settlement for the sake of their children.

The court directed the duo to remain present in their chamber on April 3, 2023 at 4.30pm.

"We are also concerned about the children," the bench said in response to a statement by Siddique's advocate.

A division of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Sharmila Deshmukh passed the order in a habeas corpus petition filed by Siddique seeking full custody of their children aged 7 & 12. He has also filed a defamation suit against his brother and wife seeking damages of Rs. 100 crore.

As for Pandey, she has filed a domestic violence case against him pending before the Magistrate's court.

In his habeas corpus plea Siddique claimed his wife and children are citizens of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and since she returned to India, the children have been missing school.

On Thursday, Advocate Adnan Shaikh for Siddique informed the court that the matter was kept for exploring the possibility of a settlement but the ex-wife's lawyer is yet to respond to the proposal.

"I don't think they want to settle," he said.

Justice Dere then asked why doesn't the couple consider the possibility of mediation but the advocate appearing for the ex-wife said she couldn't afford it.

Shaikh said Siddique didn't know where his children were and they weren't attending school. Even the school had sent a message, he said.

The bench then asked both of them to remain present at the earliest, on April 3, in the judge's chambers, concerned that the children were missing out on school.
