Then he touched upon serious issues like climate change, the rising sea levels, new species introduction and tells how such asymmetries of nature have not been witnessed since the foraging days of homo sapiens

He talks of how technological superiority wouldn’t be able to ward off a future of automated weapons. Humans have thus in their typical myopia, “mastered” the external world only by destroying it.

“Matters go from order to disorder and humans are perpetually engaged in the role of either an arsonist or a firefighter”, observes the Chief Guest at the 5th NLIU Tankha Moot

He delightfully mentioned that NLIU takes the organization process for a moot very seriously. He proudly went on to add that the moot problems and the judging process is of a very high standard. In the end he wished the teams luck but maintained that the true object of any competition is to learn.

Sanjay sir, faculty in charge of the NLIU Moot Court Association has 18 years of teaching experience in complex subjects ranging from interpretation of statutes to taxation and property law. He extended a very warm welcome to the students and the dignitaries. Emphasizing on the importance of learning rather than winning, he expressed how his first question to all the NLIU teams who go to various moots is “what did you learn?

The Vice Chancellors address:

The Vice Chancellor commenced his speech by warmly welcoming everybody to the 5th NLIU Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot. He remarked proudly how the mooting culture has exponentially grown from a decade ago to now. He congratulated the BCI, UGC and the national law institutes on their continued efforts which have allowed for the development in the art of mooting. Commenting on the future reality of virtual connections rather than physical ones he cautioned the excited teams to not forget the human touch and choose physical competitions over virtual ones as human interaction and networking are priceless. Wishing them luck, he encouraged everybody to give their best at the competition and enjoy the hospitality of the MCA and NLIU.

Proceeding with the ceremony, the dignitaries are called upon to officially inaugurate the Moot with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

Concluding the lighting of the lamp amidst applause from the participants and the audience, Dr. Vijayakumar presents the bouquet to Justice Goda Raghuram

Saumya Agarwal, a 4th year student of NLIU, starts by welcoming the participants and the dignataries to the event.

The Tankha moot has gained prestige and emminence over the years due to the level and quality of participation it attracts from across the country and world.
