The Central Government has notified the appointment of Justice Nitin Jamdar as Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court after Chief Justice RD Dhanuka demits office today.
Justice Jamdar is from Solapur and the third generation to pursue law.
After graduating from Government Law College, Mumbai, he practised at the Bombay High Court in diverse fields, primarily in administrative and constitutional law. He represented various public bodies and was also Senior Standing Counsel for the Union of India.
He was appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court on 23 January 2012.
Justice Jamdar will take over from CJ Dhanuka who has had the shortest tenure of a Chief Justice, for just three days. CJ Dhanuka took oath on Sunday. His tenure lasted for only three days.
