Will Unfold Plans To Reduce Pendency Of Cases, Vows CJI-Designate Justice Ranjan Gogoi

Huge pendency of cases and inability of poor to access justice- these were the two main problems which concern the Chief Justice of India-designate Ranjan Gogoi, as per his statement at Interactive Session on 'Role of Bar and Bench in Social Engineering’ organized by Youth Bar Association on Saturday..

While speaking at session at the Main Auditorium, Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi on September 29, Justice Gogoi declared that he will "unfold plans to these problems soon". He said that constitutional jurisprudence was fairly well settled by Court, and what was the need of hour was concrete action to tackle these problems. "Pendency of case brought disrepute to the institution. In civil cases, parties get relief after two or three generations", he highlighted the gravity of problem.

Justice Gogoi also commented on the role played by the bar in assisting justice delivery. ""Law does not live in the books, it lives with the profession. Judges take their cue from the Bar. It is the Bar which gives flesh and blood to the dry bones",he quoted Justice H R Khanna.

The Hon’ble CJI designate also emphasized on the implementation of ideas for making Justice accessible to all and role of Young Lawyers in legal aid.

Among speakers were Sidharth Luthra, Sr Adv, J M Sharma, Sr Adv, R K Khanna, Sr Arv and Dr Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean, Uttaranchal university. The speakers emphasized on the role of bar i.e. advocates and bench i.e. judiciary in uplifting the standards of rights of the citizens of India and access of justice to underprivileged.

Advocate Aishwarya Bhati gave the welcome address and Youth Bar Association of India President Sanpreet Singh Ajmani gave the vote of thanks.
