The Madhya Pradesh High Court has upheld the cancellation of pre medical test (PMT) results of 12 students by the MP Professional Examination Board (Vyapam).
The Vyapam annulled the result of the petitioners in year 2014, after it was found there was interpolation in their OMR answer sheets at the time of scanning so as to facilitate their admission to MBBS course.
The students appeared in PMT 2012 and on the basis of merit, they were admitted to MBBS course.
In some petitioners’ cases, white fluid (eraser) was found on the OMR answersheets, which otherwise is not possible to be carried inside the examination hall, as there were clear instructions given in the brochure of PMT 2012 that the candidates will carry only a black ballpoint pen and an admit card in the examination hall.
All other materials like mobile phone, calculator, log-table, rough paper etc., are not permitted to be taken in the examination hall.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Sanjay Yadav said: “If other than black ballpoint pen, no other article is permissible, then how OMR answer sheets can have white fluid.”
“It only supports the finding that there is interpolation at the time of scanning of the answer sheets to facilitate admission of the candidates,” the court said and dismissed the bunch of petitions.
