This is the interview of Advocate Aman Wadud on the cases in the foreigners tribunals in Assam and the National Register of Citizens. In this interview with Manu Sebastian, Aman Wadud talks in detail about his experience in handling foreigner tribunal cases. He narrates the arbitrary and casual manner of functioning of the tribunals which results in several Indians losing their citizenship and being detained in detention centres. Rather than detecting illegal migrants, the tribunals end up stripping genuine Indians of their citizenship, rendering them stateless. Wadud says that this is leading to grave violations of fundamental rights.
