The International Law Society , ILSA Chapter of V. M. Salgaocar College of Lawrecently conducted lectureson the topic of “The legal and political prospects of the proposed treaty to ban Nuclear Weapons” by Prof. Bharat Karnad, Senior Fellow (Research Professor) at Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi and formerly a Member of the Nuclear Doctrine Drafting Group.
The International Law Society is a student initiative to promote International Law among the students of V. M. Salgaocar College of Law. It is a College Chapter registered with the International Law Students Association, Washington D. C (ILSA). ILSA is a non-profit organization that works to inculcate the practice in the field of international law among students around the world by organizing and aiding registered institutions to carry out their objectives and activities in the theme of International Law.
Established in August 2013, the International Law Societyhas conducted and participated in diverse activities ranging from lecture series to entering International Moot Court competitions with regard to international law subjects. The society is also associated with International Centre Goa (ICG), the Centre for Latin American Studies, Goa University and Forum for Integrated National Studies, Goa (FINS). The society has a close association with the Centre for Latin American Studies, Goa University, and it organized debate on “The Gaza conflict and Regional Instability in the Middle East”.
With focus on training students for MUN and Mediation, the society is seeking to explore this very controversial area of the law, which is impregnated with vast opportunities.
