The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a PIL filed by Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisation of India against article published on Wikipedia which the Organization found to be defamatory.

"You can edit the Wikipedia article", a bench comprising Justices AS Bopanna and PS Narasimha orally observed.

The Counsel for the organization submitted, "What we have seen is that after filing the petition they edited certain parts".

"We see no reason to entertain the petition filed under Article 32….however the parties may avail other remedies available in the law", the bench dictated the order.

The petition referred to the article published on Wikipedia termed Ayurveda as a pseudoscientific and stated that the article written on Wikipedia was unnecessary and written purely with the intent to tarnish Ayurveda. "The matter of concern is that this is utterly absurd, poorly researched and prejudiced article pops up as the first article when Ayurveda is searched on Google", the petition said

The petition stated that the contents of the article do harm to the image of Ayurveda which has been built over the years by constant and dedicated research and practice.
