In the petition moved by top women wrestlers of the country seeking registration of a FIR against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over alleged sexual harassment, the petitioners have sought permission to file an additional affidavit in a sealed cover. The request was mentioned before a bench comprising CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha.
The senior counsel appearing for the petitioners stated–
"I am seeking permission to file an additional affidavit in a sealed cover. It is in the women wrestlers molestation matter. We don't have any problem supplying the affidavit to Mr Mehta but we don't wanted to go in the public domain."
To this Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said–
"I suggested to him, now the investigation is going on. Instead of showing this to your lordships, why don't you go and show it to the investigative agency?"
However, the counsel requested that the Apex Court should peruse the affidavit. SG Mehta enquired–
"Can I share it with the IO?"
The counsel responded to the same in an affirmative and stated that he had no problem with sharing the affidavit with the IO.
In the last hearing, the Delhi Police had told the Supreme Court that it will register FIR against BJP MP and WFI president Singh over the complaint of women wrestlers.
