Chief Justice of India UU Lalit on Monday said that the Supreme Court will soon have its own platform for live-streaming. CJI made this statement when a counsel mentioned that the Supreme Court should secure its copyright when the proceedings are live-streamed in YouTube. The counsel sought the urgent listing of the petition filed in that regard.

"These are the initial stages, we'll have our own platform", CJI Lalit said while posting the petition on October 17.

The Constituton Bench hearings are likely to be live streamed from tomorrow.

Four years ago, on September 26, 2018, the Supreme Court in the Swapnil Tripathi case, had accepted in principle the idea of live-streaming cases of public importance. However, the live-streaming of hearings is yet to be implemented.

On August 26, the proceedings before the ceremonial bench of CJI NV Ramana on his retirement day were live-streamted to the public. That remains so far the only instance of the court proceedings being live streamed.

Last week, the Supreme Court  decided to start live-streaming of the Constitution Bench hearings from September 27.
