The Supreme Court on Thursday has issued a Press Release to categorically refute media reports which state that action will be taken by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde in matters pertaining to allegations against members of the higher judiciary.

The statement goes on to note that any inquiries that are conducted under the "In-House procedure" of the Apex Court are "wholly confidential in nature" and that the Supreme Court would never release information to the press in connected matters.

"Media has recently been reporting about complaints making insinuations against members of the higher judiciary, and the action likely to be taken by the Chief Justice of India, Supreme Court' is being quoted as the source of information. It is clarified once and for all that inquiries under the 'in-house Procedure' being totally and wholly confidential in nature. Supreme Court never releases information in matters incidental thereto".

The Press Release has been issued in light of the media reports that have been doing rounds stating that the CJI has questioned Justice NV Ramana regarding the allegations of corruption that have been levelled by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

On October 11, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, wrote a complaint to the Chief Justice of India, S A Bobde, alleging that some High Court judges are attempting to protect the interests of the major opposition party, Telugu Desom Party, in politically sensitive matters.

A striking feature of the complaint - details of which were revealed to the media in a presser by Ajaya Kellam, the advisor of the CM, on Saturday evening - was that it had accused senior Supreme Court judge, Justice N V Ramana, who is next in line to be the Chief Justice of India, of influencing the administration of justice in the High Court.
