BREAKING| Supreme Court Designates 56 Advocates As Senior Advocates, 11 Among Them Women

The Supreme Court on Friday (January 19) designated 56 advocates as senior advocates. Eleven out of them are women.

It is after 5 years that the Supreme Court is conferring senior designations. Last time, in March 2019, 37 advocates, including 6 women, were conferred with senior designations. This is also the first time that senior designations have been decided based on the modified guidelines framed as per the judgment passed by the Supreme Court last year in the Indira Jaising case. 

282 advocates had applied for senior designation out of which 200 lawyers were shortlisted for the interview.

A committee headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud interviewed the advocates. 

The following advocates were conferred with senior designations after a Full Court meeting.
