In a relief to Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court today deleted the bail condition imposed on him in the Delhi Excise Policy case requiring appearance before the Investigating Officers of the ED & CBI twice a week.
A bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan passed the order, clarifying that Sisodia shall regularly attend the trial. "We do not find the said condition necessary", it said.
The bail condition assailed by Sisodia read thus: "The appellant shall report to the Investigating Officer on every Monday and Thursday between 10-11 AM".
To recap, on August 9, the Court granted bail to Sisodia in both the CBI and ED cases arising out of the Delhi Excise Policy 'scam', considering the delay in commencement of trial and the long period of pre-trial custody. As bail conditions, the Court asked Sisodia to furnish bail bonds for a sum of Rs.10 lakhs with two sureties of the like sum and to surrender his passport. Further, he had to report to the investigating officer every Monday and Thursday between 10-11 AM.
