As per a notice issued yesterday, the Constitution bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud will assemble after CJI Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha's division bench has heard mentioning matters. This is contrary to usual practice as per which when the CJI sits in a Constitution bench, mentionings are made before the next senior judge.

On days when the CJI is not sitting in a Constitution bench, matters for urgent listing are mentioned before the CJI following which, regular matters listed for hearing are taken up.

The Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice MR Shah, Justice Krishna Murari, Justice Hima Kohli, and Justice PS Narasimha are to hear many important matters today. These include the cases related to the rift in the Shiv Sena party, the dispute between the Delhi Government and the Union Government regarding control of administrative services in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and pleas challenging the constitutional validity of Section 6A of the Citizenship Act inserted by way of an amendment in 1985 in furtherance of the Assam Accord.
