BJP leader Jagjit Singh has approached Supreme Court seeking CBI Probe in the murder of Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Investigation has been sought in the FIR 103/2022 which was registered on May 29, 2022 at PS City 1 Mansa, District Mansa u/s 302, 307, 341, 148, 149, 427 & 120-B of Indian Penal Code 1860 and u/s 25 & 27 of Arms Act 1959,

Singh has argued in the petition that the brutal killing of Sidhu Moosewala near his house in his village has completely shaken public confidence in the govt led by the State of Punjab.

"The way the cold blooded killing was done in broad daylight is indicative of the fact that the state machinery in the state of Punjab has miserably failed in its duty not only to prevent the crime but also to effectively curb the menace of gangwars," the plea states.

It has also been contended in the writ petition that Moosewala's murder deserves to be investigated by a central agency as the same is a glaring example where the conscience of the community at large has been shocked.

BJP leader has further averred that the people of Punjab are confident that no effective investigation would be done by the state, rather it would try to cover up its failure by removing the security cover.

"A particular state agency does not have the jurisdiction to investigate the present case as the same involves international gangsters as well as local/inter- state criminal who have fled or are trying to flee to different parts of the country," plea further states.

The petition has been filed through AOR Namit Saxena.
