Supreme Court Bar Association Urges Delhi CM To Set Up COVID-19 Testing Facilities Within SC Premises

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has written to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal requesting him to setup a COVID-19 testing facility within the premises of the Supreme Court.

Such a setup, with appropriate equipment and test kits, will enable all those who use the Supreme Court to get themselves checked, urges the letter.

Raising concerns about difficulties in accessing testing facilities in Delhi, specifically by lawyers who have been showing symptoms, early action in the regard has been sought.

"The testing facilities for COVID-19 are difficult to come by making it a race against time to ascertain whether an individual has been affected with the virus. The members of the SCBA who have a fever or cough seek to get them tested but the facility are not easily accessible or available. Therefore the SCBA requests you to setup a Testing Facility for COVID-19 in the Supreme Court premises with appropriate equipment and test kits. This will enable all users of the Court - be they members of our Association, the general litigant, staff/clerks working with members, staff of the SCBA, Staff of Hin'ble Supreme Court et al to get themselves checked for any infection by the Corona virus."

Signed by SCBA Secretary, Rohit Pandey, the letter concludes by pointing out that a wide range of people visit the precincts of the Apex Court, which includes litigants who come from outside Delhi.

Acknowledging that the Top Court has taken all steps possible to prevent the spread of the infection, it is pressed that the Court's precincts must continue to be protected.
