The Supreme Court has taken a suo moto case on the conditions of children protection homes across the country in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

A division bench comprising Justices L Nageswara Rao and Deepak Gupta will consider tomorrow the case titled "In Re Contagion Of COVID-19 Virus In Children Protection Homes'.

The SC had earlier taken suo moto case on the condition of prisons, and issued directions to States and UTs for considering grant of parole/interim-bail to prisoners in lesser offences to de-congest prisons to reduce the chance of COVID-19 transmission.

The Court has also taken suo moto notice of the issue of non-supply of mid-day meals to children due to the closure of schools.
