As many as 228 advocates were designated as Advocates-on-record in light of an application moved by them for registration as Advocate-on-record (AoRs) after have appeared in the Advocate-on-Record examination held in June, 2019.

The applicants had passed the prescribed written test for making them eligible for registration as an Advocate-on-Record of the Top Court.

Due to the lockdown, the registrations of these candidates had been put on hold. In light of this, it had been directed that the advocates who had cleared the written test held in June 2019 must register themselves.

On Monday, the Supreme Court Recruitment Cell had declared "that the applications for registration as Advocates-onRecord is fixed on the 05th May, 2020 (Tuesday) and will be taken up by the Hon'ble Chamber Judge on that day. It is further informed that the personal/virtual appearance of the Advocates before the Hon'ble Judge in has been exempted"

In related news, The Supreme Court Advocates On Record Assocation last month had announced that the Advocate-On-Record (AoR) Examination, scheduled for the month of June stood deferred owing to the Coronavirus induced lockdown.
