The Supreme Court yesterday appointed Senior Advocate P S Narasimha as a mediator to resolve disputes pertaining to administration of Board of Control of Cricket in India(BCCI).
The bench of Justices S A Bobde and A M Sapre has also directed that no no Court or Tribunal in India shall entertain or proceed with any matter pertaining to BCCI or any State Cricket Association(s) till Narsimha submits his report.
The bench also asked Narasimha to look into the dispute relating to release of funds by the court appointed committee of administrators to various cricket associations.
He was assisting the Court in the capacity of amicus curiae in the matter pertaining to cricket administration, which the Supreme Court had been overseeing for sometime. He had flagged two issues before the Court- one regarding applications for rectification of the Registered BCCI Constitution and another regarding applications for release of funds.
Regarding these issues, the Court directed him to give recommendations to the Committee of Administrators appointed by the Court for BCCI.
The Supreme Court on 30 January 2017 nominated a four-member panel Committee of Administrators (Vinod Rai, Ramachandra Guha, Vikaram Limaye and Diana Edulji) to look after the administration of the BCCI in order to implement reforms suggested by Justice Lodha committee.
On February 19, the SC had appointed former SC judge Justice D K Jain as Ombudsman for BCCI.
