The Supreme Court has made an appeal to the officials of Registry to make voluntary contributions to Prime Minister Citizens' Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation[PM CARES] funds for COVID-19 relief.

As per a circular issued by Rajesh Kumar Goel, Registrar [AJ/Cash & Accounts], the donations may be made as under :

  • All Gazetted Officers : 3 days' salary
  • All Non-gazetted Employees : 2days' salary
  • All Group'C'Non-Clerical Employees : 1day's salary

The donations will be deducted from the Salary for the month of March,2020.

The circular clarifies that the contribution will be on voluntary basis. Therefore, those Officers/Officials who do not wish to contribute have to intimate the SC by sending SMS through the given phone number, mentioning his/her name, designation and employee code, latest by 10 AM on March 31. Non-receipt of the SMS will be treated as consent to donate.    

The contribution is exempted under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
