CJI, on one counsel's question- "we are not reviewing J Nariman's judgment"
The points to be looked into by the meeting:
1. Reframing or addition of issues.
2. Time-bound arguments by the counsels.
3. Points to be argued. Who will argue what.
3 weeks given by SC to all the lawyers for finalisation of all issues relating to Sabarimala and the rest of the matters. Conference of lawyers to be held on January 17 for the same.
Solicitor General seeks clarification on whether the Court will hear on the issue of polygamy.
CJI says that only the questions mentioned in the November 14 order will be decided
CJI says that the Secretary General of Supreme Court will convene a meeting of all lawyers to discuss the framing of issues to be settled by the Court in the matter.
CJI says he's looking to list all the matters regarding Dawoodi Bora- FGM, Muslim women in mosques, Parsi women entry in fire temple etc before the bench.
CJI asks the counsels to consult each other and decide which issue is to be argued by whom.
CJI also refers to the example of Ayodhya hearing, where the counsels had agreed amongst themselves regarding the issues to be handled by them.
CJI - We are of the view that the petitions regarding FGM and entry of Parsi women into fireplaces, entry of Muslim women into mosques, should taken up before the 9-judge Bench.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta says that 7 questions in the review are broad propositions, which need to be fine tuned.
