In a strongly worded letter, the Bar Council of India had signalled its opposition to any move to include advocates under Consumer Protection Act. The BCI had warned that legal fraternity "will protest on roads" if such a thing happened.
On March 12, the Delhi High Court Bar Association wore "white arm bands" as a display of protest against the proposal to include advocates under the ambit of 'service providers' under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
