A court in Mumbai's Bandra area has granted bail to 12 men, alleged workers of the Shiv Sena, who were arrested for vandalising a comedy club where Kunal Kamra had performed on 23rd March.

The following day, various political workers reached the venue where Kamra had performed, and completely ransacked it, while warning Kamra of dire consequences for his comments.

The police had arrested Shiv Sena functionary Rahul Kanal and 11 others for vandalising the venue, being enraged by the remarks made by Kamra, who had allegedly called Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a "traitor" in his skit, likely referencing his split from the Shiv Sena.

Although Kamra had not named Shinde in his skit, the references were seen as being pointed directly at the Deputy CM.

Twelve people had been arrested in connection with the violence that had erupted and were subsequently granted cash bail. A separate case has also been lodged against comedian Kamra, which is being investigated by the police, a senior officer from Khar Police Station said while speaking to Live Law.
